Mirror, Mirror? I want to see CONFIDENCE!:

28.03.2009 // Image Consultancy

Mirror, Mirror? I want to see CONFIDENCE!So you have low self-esteem? Ok… So do most people. Except some don’t show it and others work hard to get it out of their system… and so should you.

Do you think that loud girl in class who pushes others around and looks at you from above is showing confidence? Or is she over-compensating fRead your list: whor her lack of self-assurance, picking on others just to feel better about herself? I would go with the latter.  The truth is, confidence doesn’t come with being gorgeous. Confidence is not about the way you look… it’s first and foremost a state of mind.

The first step towards self-confidence –or that inexplicable radiance that glows out of someone confident- is for you to accept yourself. Just know that everyone is different, special and unique. Each person has qualities and flaws, and you have to learn to see your qualities, and put them forward.
Once you accept who you are and you like it, then you reach self-confidence.
Start by making a list of all your qualities and flaws –and not only the physical stuff but the personality stuff too.
photoRead your list: what you do like most about yourself and what are the things you like the least? Now try to understand why. You can even question people around you about what they think about your looks and personality. Sometimes, others see things in you that you don’t even know are there. So look at yourself through someone else’s eyes –someone who loves you or cares for you.
Of course, like most girls, you reach a point where you feel fat, ugly, and just overall terrible. Almost every girl goes through that feeling. So let me throw in a cliché: Beauty comes from the inside... HA! I know what you’re thinking, but hear me out! There’s a reason it’s a cliché… And the reason is: it’s sort of true. Not that looks aren’t important. They are --trust me, I know it just as much as you do. But the reality is, the more you see your own qualities, your unique beautiful features (and learn how to put in under the spot-light, then others will notice it too! Maybe it’s your lips, or your hair, or your eyes - something about yourself… Feel confident about it! Let’s say your hair is gorgeous. No one has better hair than you do. You hair is your weapon. It’s going to look different every day, always attracting attention. And whenever you feel that glow of confidence slipping away, put your fingers through your hair and remember how amazing it is.  And watch how everyone else will think it’s amazing…
Because the hard-core reality is that you may never look like that model on the front page of a fashion magazine. And then again, 99% of people don’t. Thanks to retouching, anyone can look great in photos! But you can look great naturally by taking care of yourself and loving it. Comparing yourself to celebrities and perfect 10 models is typical… and media can be destructive, putting beauty standards so high that it frustrates young women who spend all their time and energy trying to look like them.
Just learn to be yourself! If we looked all the same wouldn’t that be boring? Enjoy your uniqueness! You can follow trends and fashion, but the way it suits your style and your personality, not the other way around.

photoRemember that self-confidence is an attitude, first and foremost.
When you wear the right clothes for your shape and personality, you can help yourself feel more self-confident. But it is not enough if you don’t have the right attitude. Your posture, body language, expression and your way of communication prove your self-confidence. Think of the last time you wore something you knew look amazing on you –notice how everything about your attitude changed while you wearing these clothes? Try it again. Go buy something that you think is gorgeous and then go out with some friends… and notice the way you act –and consequently, the way they act with you. Chances are, you’ll be getting a lot of compliments.
And watch how being self-confident changes everything in your everyday life!
